The Lady Lancers went on the road to Macomb Christian School to open the conference volleyball season on Tuesday, 9/5, and came home victorious.  Macomb Christian jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first set before the Lancers settled in and took control.  OCS won the first set 25-10 and followed that up with 25-17 and 25-20 set wins to complete the three set sweep.

Coaches Dan Willson and Kayla Tison have focused the team on serving aggressively while maintaining a high percentage.  That focus paid off with 30 aces and 91% serving.  Three freshmen led the team in multiple categories:

  • Hailee Ide served at 90% with 11 aces, and added 8 kills
  • Kaylee Page was a perfect 12 for 12 serving with 7 aces, and 3 kills
  • Katie Hopkins was given the key role of blocking middle and setting all the way around in the Lancers’ 5-1 offensive scheme.  She tallied 12 assists, to go with her 4 aces.

Co-Captains Grace Shelata and Beana Lucido led the team on defense with a strong passing game.

The Lady Lancers, the reigning conference champions, start their title defense with a 1-0 record and move their overall record to 2-6-1.
