Madison LaLone (Jr.) broke the Oakland Christian Varsity Girls Basketball single season record for steals. With 113 steals on the season, she broke the previous record of 109 previously held by Julie Lufty (1993). Madison LaLone, (Jr.), playing in her third season on the varsity team, finished last Thursday’s game against Pontiac Academy for Excellence with 14 points, 4 assists, and 8 steals. It was the last stat that mattered. Madison is averaging 6.3 steals per game during her junior campaign and has been the defensive catalyst for the Lancers all season long. Coach Josh Thayer had this to say about Madison and her accomplishment, “Madison has been our go-to defensive player all season long. When we needed a stop, we put Madison on the ball. When we need energy defensively, Madison was in the game. I’m super proud of Madison and the hard work she has put in this year. She will continue to be a key piece of our strategy defensively next season.”
Congratulations to Madison on this incredible accomplishment!
