Girls Middle School Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Lady Lancers defeat Clintondale

This year the Lady Lancers were moved up for the first time in school history to Division 3.  That didn’t faze the team as they came away with a pre-district “play-in-game” win vs. Clintondale High School. The Lancers came to bat in the bottom of the first inning down one run and responded by scoring two. Clintondale tied it up in the second inning and then again in the third. The game was still tied going into the fifth inning until Genna Castillo energized the Lancers with a towering home run over the left-center field fence. The team would go on to score two more runs culminating in a 6-3 victory.  The win sends the Lancers to a June 3rd match-up in districts vs. Bishop Foley.

Rebekah Crane picked up the win.  She threw 10 strike-outs, gave up 2 walks, 1 hit-by-pitch, and 5 hits.  As a batter she drew 2 hit-by-pitches, 1 walk and 3 stolen bases.  The Lancers offense was lead by Genna Castillo who went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, 1 home-run, 1 stolen base, 1 walk and 2 RBI’s. Nicole Vaught added a key hit knocking in 2 RBI’s. Claire Barba (2 runs scored) and Clare Nalepa each added a hit.
