Lancers News · Middle School Girls Basketball Round Up

The Lancers 8th-grade basketball team wrapped up their successful season with a “nail-biter” over-time win – 36-32 over rival Genesee Christian.  This was the long-awaited rematch after the Soldiers beat the Lancers at the Chatfield middle school tournament in the championship game a few weeks ago.

The team knew that this game was going to be a tough battle and it met all expectations, even exceeding those by going into overtime. In the final seconds of overtime, Olivia Colletti drained a jump-shot to secure the win for the Lancers, moving their record on the season to 13 wins and 2 losses.

Micah Tison led all scorers with 15 points on the night.  Presley Rowland went 3 for 5 from the free throw line adding 7 points. Sophia Lucido and Alaina Franey each scored 5 points and both controlled the game at the point.  Micah Tison, Alaina Franey, and Kylie Morga were all assigned the tough task of covering Genesee’s top scorer with man-to-man coverage and together kept her to 3 points, completely taking her out of the Soldiers offense.  Kylie Morga also added a bucket on the evening. Amy Gammon, Bella Spry, and Amiley Williams all contributed to the Lancers victory with solid defense and rebounding. It truly was a team effort. This win came after two wins last week over Intercity-Baptist and Parkway ending the season very strong.

The off-season begins now for the Lancers and all eyes are looking forward to this team’s high school careers.

The 6th-grade girls’ basketball team finished their last week of games with 2 wins. Ending on a competitive win over Inter-City Baptist 28-24.

The 7th-grade girls’ basketball team finished their season with two tough losses last week.

It was a great, competitive season overall and we loved seeing so many girls get the opportunity to play! Time to start gearing up for boys middle school basketball
