The Lancers opened their 2018 softball season with a bang. Defeating Royal Oak Shrine 12-1 in 5 innings of indoor play at the Evolution Sportsplex in Pontiac, MI. The Lancers were the first to get on the board scoring 1 run in the bottom of the first inning, adding another in the second inning, before blowing the game wide open by scoring seven runs in the third. The Lancer defense, although not perfect gave up only 1 run and was protected by an excellent pitching performance by senior captain, Rebekah Crane. She gave up 3 hits, no walks, and earned 7 strike-outs to pick up her first win of the season.
Freshmen, Alysia Weber added two hits and an RBI. Junior, Mackenzie Saylor also added two hits with Rebekah Crane adding a hit and 2 RBI. Nicole Vaught also hit a single to help propel the Lancers to victory. Alison Brzezinski had a great day on the base paths stealing 3 bases and earning 2 walks at the plate. Olivia Williams had a walk and a stolen base. Jackie Hagar earned two walks.
The Lancers have worked hard up to this point and enter Easter break with a lot more confidence and looking to come back and continue their winning ways.
