The varsity girls softball team squared off in their first league action against league favorite Lutheran Northwest. The Crusaders beat the young Lancer team 10-0. A few critical fielding mistakes and errors led to the lopsided loss. The Lancer softball record drops to .500 at 1-1 on the season.
Rebekah Crane was the losing pitcher but had a strong outing keeping her team in it as long as possible. She recorded 5 strikeouts, only gave up 2 walks, six hits with 3 earned runs. Sophia Patzer was the lone player to make it on base earning a walk. Nicole Vaught, Rebekah Crane, and Mackenzie Saylor all made contact on the ball all night long, but just couldn’t get them to drop in for a hit. Autumn Maley made a nice line drive catch in her first time in centerfield.
The team looks to rebound next week in more league action against Parkway Christian.
