Oakland Christian (4-0; 3-0) won its fourth straight game to begin the 2020 season, with an impressive 44-14 win over Advanced Tech (2-2) of Dearborn Heights, played at Gabriel Richard HS in Riverview on Saturday.
Dan Siminski threw five touchdown passes to three different receivers and rushed for another. Siminski threw for 227 yards (on 16-24 passing) and was the Lancers leading rusher with 51 yards.
The talented Lancer receiving corps excelled once again. Carson Ford and Lake Patterson had two touchdowns each and Keith McAllister had a one-handed 50-yard grab for another. The Lancers’ ability to spread the ball around to its talented receiving corps turned out to be too difficult for the Lakers of Advanced Tech to handle.
The defense again was impressive though being outsized at most positions. For the second straight week, it gave up a long TD run on its first play from scrimmage and then settled in to stifle the Lakers the rest of the game. Carter Lewis had a key fumble recovery and Ethan Townsend had an impressive interception, wrestling the ball away from the Advanced Tech receiver. Townsend was also the OC leading tackler with 6 and Zachary Collins had an impressive game on the defensive line with 5 impressive tackles.
The victory sets up a showdown for the MIAC title next week in Clarenceville. The Trojans are undefeated in league, as are the Lancers. Oakland Christian is currently ranked 10th in Division 8 in the State. That ranking will be put to the test by the Division 4 squad from Clarenceville. The game will be in Livonia on Friday.
It will be the final MIAC contest for the Lancers, who finish the season with a non-league contest at home versus Our Lady of the Lakes- Waterford.
