Oakland Christian ended the regular season with a 49-0 shutout of Our Lady of the Lakes at the Auburn Hills Community Field on Friday night. The Lancers were able to win soundly despite the absence of senior quarterback/linebacker Dan Siminski who was injured in the fourth quarter of last week’s game against Clarenceville. Junior Ethan Townsend took over the quarterback duties and threw for three touchdowns and 205 yards on9 of 14 passing.
Oakland Christian also got a boost from the return of Mason Kolb after a three-game absence. The senior running back and linebacker had two receptions on swing passes that he turned into 100 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Carson Ford transitioned to fullback from his usual slotback position and led the Lancers to their first two scores running between the tackles. Ford rushed for 78 yards on 10 carries and 2 touchdowns. Lake Patterson moved to tailback and had 6 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown. Keith McAllister continued his superior play at wide receiver with another touchdown reception.
The LAncers’ defense recorded its third shutout of the season. Carter Lewis led the way with 12 tackles and Kolb recorded 8 tackles. Townsend had 2 interceptions and McAllister returned an interception for a 54-yard touchdown.
Oakland Christian will begin the Division 8 playoffs Saturday, October 31 at 2:00 pm when it entertains Mt. Clemens. The Lancers ended the regular season 5-1 and Co-Champions of the Michigan Independent Athletic Conference.
