The OCS Lancer cross-country team continues its string of sending at least one athlete to the state finals every year since 1986, with junior Ethan McFarland as our representative this year! Ethan finished 4th in the regional race on Friday with a time of 17:58, the highest regional placing by an OCS boy in over a decade and a personal best by 23 seconds. He will compete in the State Finals at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, November 7.
The boys’ team finished 7th, despite every runner recording their fastest time of the year. Freshman Tommy Megie was our second finisher in 21st place with 19:07, and freshman Luke Douglas broke the 20 minute barrier for the first time, with a time of 19:47.
In the girls’ race, freshman Karis Keith was the top OCS finisher, cutting 50 seconds off her previous best to finish 23rd at 22:41. Junior Amy Gammon cut over a minute off her PR with a 24:20 finish, senior Katelyn Ermshler ran her best time of the year, and freshman Leah Kroge finished her season as the most improved girl over the course of a single season in OCS history, with a 10 minute, 19 second improvement over her first race!
