The OCS Boys Soccer team lost a heartbreaking District Semifinal to MIAC Blue rival Roeper yesterday 2-0. The game was even in the beginning but Roeper was able to break through the Lancer defense and scored the first goal of the game in the opening half.
The Lancers came into the second half looking to tie the score but were denied on several shots by Roeper. The visiting team was able to again break through the OCS defense and score another goal and put the game away 2-0 thus advancing to the District Final on Friday against Everest Collegiate and ending the Lancer’s season.
A huge THANK YOU to our graduating seniors who gave everything to the program:
It was an emotional ending to another season that saw the Lancers capture their first MIAC Blue title since 2012. Expect individual awards as the post season progresses and we will be sure to highlight those when they are announced.
Finally, our season verse was Hebrews 12:1-2:
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”
As a coaching staff and as parents, it was our prayer that these young men would run the race and keep our eyes on Jesus. As we left the field, we wanted our season to end the way it began…in prayer.
Thanks to our fans who supported us throughout the season! GO LANCERS!
