Oakland Christian began the State District volleyball tournament with a victory over Auburn Hills Christian on Monday night. The Lancers used their strong serves to sweep the visiting Cougars by a score of 25-14, 25-12, 25-12.
Hailee Ide led the OCS team with 14 digs, but it was her serving that was devastating to the opposition. She had 11 aces among her 22 serves. Kaylee Page led the team with 14 kills and a .684 hitting percentage. Katie Hopkins had 22 assists on the night. The dominant performance allowed depth players to get some quality playing time. Kylie Morga made the most of her opportunity, wowing the crowd with 3 kills and an ace in her limited playing time.
The Lancers improved their record on the season to 29-12-3.
In the second game of the evening, Novi Christian defeated Frankel Jewish Academy, 3 sets to 1.
Conference rivals, Novi Christian and Oakland Christian will meet in the District semifinals on Tuesday at 6:30.
In the other semifinal, Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes squares off against Everest Collegiate 5:00 before the OCS vs. Novi Christian match up on Tuesday.
The District Finals will be on Thursday at 6:00 in the OCS gym.
